CJC-1295 vs ipamorelin

The short answer

CJC-1295 and ipamorelin both make the body release growth hormone, but neither has been shown to cause fat loss or muscle gain in people, and we found no published study of them together23456. CJC-1295 copies the brain hormone GHRH, and its tested form kept growth hormone raised for 6 days or more after one dose; ipamorelin works like the hunger hormone ghrelin and triggers a short burst that peaks about 40 minutes after an IV dose4678. Neither is approved, and FDA’s advisers voted in 2024 against letting pharmacies compound either one67910.

Does it work? For fat loss, muscle and healing: UntestedPublished human studies used only the ‘with DAC’ form, and one dose raised growth hormone for 6 days or more47. We found no published study of fat loss, muscle or healing in people4511.For fat loss, muscle and sleep: UntestedAn IV dose triggers a short burst of growth hormone8, but we found no study in people of fat loss, muscle or sleep612. Its only published patient trial, after bowel surgery, found no clear benefit13.

What it isA lab-made copy of the first 29 amino acids of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), the brain signal for growth hormone, with 4 swaps for stability57.A lab-made chain of 5 amino acids that switches on the ghrelin receptor, the same switch the ‘hunger hormone’ ghrelin uses to release growth hormone620.
One dose in peopleWith DAC: average growth hormone rose 2- to 10-fold for 6 days or more, and IGF-1, a growth factor that growth hormone raises, rose 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days47.One IV dose caused a single growth hormone burst that peaked at about 40 minutes and fell to negligible levels by 6 hours68.
Studied in people forWith DAC: hormone levels in healthy adults, though users report taking it for weight loss, muscle, sleep and healing; a trial in people with HIV was stopped in 2006 after a participant died, and its results had not been published as of FDA’s 2024 review472122.Gut recovery after bowel surgery, though it is sold for fat loss, muscle and sleep: in 114 adults, time to a solid meal was 25.3 hours vs 32.6 on placebo, not a significant difference613.
Biggest documented riskWith DAC: headache (63% vs 14% on placebo in one trial; 20% to 80% vs 50% in the other), injection-site reactions, flushing and a dose-related rise in heart rate; a trial participant died of a heart attack, and a link to the drug could be neither confirmed nor ruled out723.In the surgery trial, low potassium (12.5% vs 3.4%) and high blood sugar (14.3% vs 8.6%) were more common than on placebo, and two patients on it died; FDA says the link is unclear613.
Lab tests of gray-market vials124 of Finnrick’s latest 200 tests failed (16 May 2025 to 24 September 2026), including, by our count, 43 of 50 samples labeled ‘DAC’24.52 of Finnrick’s latest 200 tests failed, and 2 were incomplete (11 December 2025 to 24 September 2026)25.
FDA advisory panel voteAgainst every form on 4 December 2024: free base 0-13, acetate 1-12 and each DAC form 0-139.Against on 29 October 2024: 0-12 with 1 abstention, for both the free base and the acetate10.

Is there evidence for taking them together?

We found no published human study of CJC-1295 with ipamorelin, and a 2026 review called the practice ‘largely driven by anecdotal rationale’235. Websites promoting the pair claim the two release more growth hormone together, and one website cited by FDA claims a ‘3-5 fold’ increase67.

Related drugs do work together in hormone studies, an effect called synergy: GHRH, the hormone CJC-1295 copies, given with GHRP-2, a growth-hormone-releasing peptide like ipamorelin, caused marked growth hormone release16. That 2009 study gave both by infusion to 47 men; the combined effect was weaker in older men and in men with more belly fat, and the study measured growth hormone release, not changes in muscle or fat1.

Blends are sold anyway, under names such as ‘CJC & Ipa’ and ‘FIT Stack’2627. Two 2026 consumer reports in FDA’s adverse-event database, which cannot show cause, list a CJC-1295 and ipamorelin product as a suspect: a 65-year-old woman who injected it reported a hypersensitivity reaction in a report marked life-threatening, and a 19-year-old man who also used tesamorelin, retatrutide and another product was hospitalized with a reported heart attack and kidney injury28.

Which CJC-1295 is in the blend?

The name covers two molecules: CJC-1295 with DAC carries a chemical hook that binds albumin in the blood, and its half-life in people is about a week; its developers credit the hook, but FDA notes that no study has compared the two forms4729. For the version without DAC, also called Mod GRF 1-29, FDA found no measurement of its half-life or effects in people7.

In its 2024 review, FDA found CJC-1295 and ipamorelin blends sold as the no-DAC form, and others, including a CJC-1295 and ipamorelin powder and troche, that did not say which form they contained7; a 2026 review says the pairing typically uses the no-DAC form5. So every human result for CJC-1295, including the growth hormone rise in the table above, comes from a different molecule than the one usually sold in these blends457.

Questions people ask

What is the CJC-1295 Ipamorelin peptide good for?

People use these peptides for fat loss, muscle, sleep and healing, but we found no published study of the pair in people235622. Each drug alone raises growth hormone, yet we found no study in people showing that either one causes fat loss or muscle gain4561112. In its only published patient trial, ipamorelin did not significantly speed recovery after bowel surgery13.

How long does it take to see results from CJC-1295 Ipamorelin therapy?

We found no study of the pair, so there is no evidence-based timeline for results such as fat loss or muscle gain235. Studies of each drug alone in healthy adults measured hormone levels: one injection of the DAC form kept growth hormone raised for 6 days or more, and an IV dose of ipamorelin caused a burst that peaked at about 40 minutes48. Neither drug has been shown to cause fat loss or muscle gain in people456.

Does CJC Ipamorelin affect testosterone?

We found no published study of CJC-1295 with ipamorelin in people, so none has measured testosterone on the pair235. Studies of each drug alone reported growth hormone levels, and we found no testosterone results in FDA’s 2024 reviews of either drug4678.

What are the downsides of CJC-1295?

In short studies of the DAC form, headache (63% vs 14% on placebo in the single-dose trial), injection-site reactions, diarrhea and flushing were common, and heart rate rose at higher doses723. A trial was stopped in 2006 after a participant died of a heart attack, and the drug’s role could be neither confirmed nor ruled out7. Long-term effects are unknown, and 124 of Finnrick’s latest 200 tests of gray-market vials failed, from May 2025 to September 2026724.
